Paranormal investigators visited by extra-dimensional being

If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.
I'm trying to find out the name(s) of the investigators or their group who investigate the paranormal, and in particular, extra-dimensional beings. They were sitting around discussing the existence of extra-dimensional beings when suddenly a portal opened in the wall and there stood an extra-dimensional being, a man who I believe was, as is typical, dressed in black and may have been wearing a hat. Then the portal quickly closed, leaving the stunned investigators asking if they had just seen the same thing.
I caught a brief snippet on TV about this, but before I could write down the name of the investigator, the excerpt was over. I think that it may have been a part of the TV show, Monsters & Mysteries in America, on the Destination America channel.
Does anyone out there know who I'm talking about? I'm trying to ultimately find a book or article about this incident and the investigators' work.
